大事记 | “剑桥IGCSE™数学工作坊”与朝阳凯文携手搭建学术高地

近日,剑桥大学国际考评部东亚区办公室分别在北京、上海、深圳、香港四地举办了“剑桥IGCSE™数学工作坊 ”活动。北京市朝阳区凯文学校有幸作为工作坊第一站,开启了此次活动的序幕,来自北京、天津、河北和山东19个剑桥中心的40名教师齐聚朝阳凯文,参加了此次研讨会。

 

 

此次研讨会旨在强调将IGCSE数学基础课程与国际文凭课程(IBDP)数学和大学先修课程(AP)数学课程相结合的重要性,为教育工作者提供有效的教学策略和工具,以提升学生在这些课程中的学习成果。

 

 

前来参会的老师们就如何将IGCSE数学基础课程概念无缝整合到IBDP数学和AP数学课程中进行了讨论,研讨了课程之间的共同点以及如何弥合不同课程体系之间的差距,以便为学生提供更平稳的过渡,促进他们数学教育旅程的连续性和深度。

 

会议分别邀请到剑桥大学国际考评部考评经理Sarah Gott女士、剑桥IGCSE数学教师资源作者Dicky Susanto博士,以及多位优秀的数学教师进行分享。

 

 

会上,剑桥大学国际考评部考评经理Sarah Gott女士介绍了自2025年起,对剑桥IGCSE数学基础课程(0580/0980)评估的变化以及对教学的影响。

 

 

剑桥IGCSE数学教师资源作者Dicky Susanto博士为老师们展示了新资源,描述了IGCSE数学课程组成部分,包括它们如何相互关联并共同运作,以及课程大纲推荐的学习和教学方法,并说明它们如何支持评估。

 

 

在朝阳凯文,IGCSE数学基础课程不仅是一个独立的课程,更是紧密融入到我们更广泛教育框架中的一个组成部分。它的重要性不仅在于其固有价值,还在于它与A-Level、国际文凭课程(IBDP)和AP数学等高阶课程的无缝整合。

 

 

研讨会上,朝阳凯文国际课程项目(ICP)中学部 IGCSE & A-Level 数学教师Mr. Ali Naqvi向大家分享了提升学生参与度和理解力的实用教学策略:

 

“The integration of IGCSE Math 0580 with A-Level, IBDP, and AP Math curriculums is pivotal in fostering continuity and depth in students’ mathematical education. By laying a strong foundation at the IGCSE level, students are better prepared to tackle the rigors of advanced mathematical concepts and applications in subsequent stages of their academic journey. In A-Level Math, the concepts and skills acquired through IGCSE Math 0580 serve as building blocks for more advanced topics, ensuring a smooth transition and enabling students to delve deeper into mathematical theory and problem-solving techniques.

 

Similarly, in the IBDP and AP Math programs, the integration of IGCSE Math 0580 facilitates a coherent progression of learning, allowing students to explore complex mathematical concepts with confidence and dexterity. The interdisciplinary nature of these curriculums is enhanced by the solid mathematical groundwork laid during the IGCSE stage, enabling students to excel in diverse academic pursuits.

“Cambridge IGCSE™ Mathematics Workshop” Collaborates with CKWA to Establish Academic Excellence

 

Recently, the Cambridge Assessment International Education East Asia Regional Office hosted the “Cambridge IGCSE™ Mathematics Workshop” in four cities: Beijing, Shanghai, Shenzhen, and Hong Kong. The workshop commenced at CKWA, where 40 teachers from 19 Cambridge centers in Beijing, Tianjin, Hebei, and Shandong gathered for this seminar.

 

The aim of this workshop was to emphasize the importance of integrating the IGCSE Mathematics 0580 curriculum with the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP) Mathematics and Advanced Placement (AP) Mathematics courses. The workshop provided educators with effective teaching strategies and tools to enhance student learning outcomes in these courses.

 

The attending teachers engaged in discussions on how to seamlessly integrate the concepts of IGCSE Mathematics 0580 into the IBDP Mathematics and AP Mathematics courses. They identified commonalities between the curricula and bridged gaps to provide students with smoother transitions, promoting continuity and depth in their mathematical education journey.

 

The conference featured guest speakers including Ms. Sarah Gott, Assessment Manager from Cambridge Assessment International Education, Dr. Dicky Susanto, author of Cambridge IGCSE Mathematics teaching resources, and several outstanding mathematics educators who shared their insights.

 

During the conference, Ms. Sarah Gott, Assessment Manager from Cambridge Assessment International Education, primarily discussed the changes in the assessment of Cambridge IGCSE Mathematics (0580/0980) starting from 2025 and their implications for teaching.

 

Dr. Dicky Susanto, the author of Cambridge IGCSE Mathematics teaching resources, showcased new materials for teachers during the event. He described the components of the IGCSE Mathematics curriculum, how they interrelate and operate together, and recommended learning and teaching methods aligned with the syllabus. Dr. Susanto also explained how these methods support assessment practices.

 

At CKWA, IGCSE Mathematics 0580 is not only an independent course but also an integral part of our broader educational framework. Its significance lies not only in its inherent value but also in its seamless integration with higher-level courses such as A-levels, the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP), and AP Mathematics.

 

During the workshop, Mr. Ali Naqvi, the IGCSE & A-Level Mathematics teacher from the International Curriculum Program (ICP) Middle School at CKWA, shared practical teaching strategies aimed at enhancing student engagement and understanding:
